Dentistry
Feline dentistry is not so much about keeping the breath fresh or the teeth sparkly white but more about the elimination of chronic low-grade pain. Many owners comment on the unexpected increase in play behaviour following dental procedures.
Signs of dental problems include:
- Struggling during handling and refusal to allow opening of the mouth
- Chattering after eating, drinking or grooming
- Areas of reddened gum or even excess gum tissue growing into the mouth
- Pinkish discoloration within the teeth
- Heavy tartar on one side of the mouth indicating the cat is eating on one side to avoid pain
- Bad smells, salivating or pawing at the mouth
At Ninelives we use radiography, electronic scalers, polishers and on occasion drills to help you keep your cats mouth in optimum condition.
