Vaccinations
There are many commercial vaccines available on the market today. At Ninelives we don’t make blanket recommendations but prefer instead to assess your cats risks related to his lifestyle and make individual vaccination programmes.

As a general guide all cats require protection from Cat Flu (Herpes and Calici virus) and Infectious Enteritis (FIE) usually given as a three in one vaccine on two or three separate occasions.

The need for booster vaccinations depends on risk. Indoor cats that live on their own or with a small number of cats only require boosters every three years. However, if your cat makes frequent visits to grooming or boarding facilities his risk is higher and he may require annual boosters.

Cats with outdoor access should also be protected against Rabies and Feline Leukemia Virus (FeLV).

There are vaccines available against FIP and FIV however for various reasons we do not currently recommend their use. This may change with time as research and development continue so watch this space.
